Bladder inflammation (Cystitis) is a very common condition in cats😿 and dogs🐶. They usually present with bloody urine (hematuria) and frequent urination (pollakiuria). There are many reasons for cystitis including infection🦠, stones/crystals🧱 in the urine or even neoplasia. In order to determine the cause, structural evaluation and cellular evaluation should be performed. Structural evaluation usually involves imagining such as Xray and ultrasound🩻. Cellular evaluation involves urinalysis and urine culture. 🧫

For this patient, the bladder wall was irregular which was consistence with cystitis and luckily there’s an absent of bladder stones (pic 1). The urine sample revealed heavy growth of bacteria🦠 and increased number of white blood cells (pic 2 & 3). With the appropriate treatment, he made full recovery.
