FHNE involves surgical removal of the femoral head and neck and it’s considered as salvage procedure because once the femoral head is removed, then it will be gone forever. This will prevent bone to bone rubbing within the hip hence eliminate pain and improve quality of life (QOL). The hip subsequently be stabilized with only the soft tissue (eg muscle/scar tissue). The prognosis is usually excellent for small size dogs and it usually costs less than other hip surgical procedure.
